Sonnet Examples You Can Enjoy – Writing Sonnets

Sonnet is a form of poetry which is composed very specially. It is of 14 lines and normally divided in two parts. The first eight lines are called “octave” whereas the remaining six lines are called “sestet”

There are two types of sonnet examples called The Petrarchan sonnet and The Shakespearean sonnet. The rhyming pattern of Petrarchan sonnet is ABBA, ABBA, CDCDCD, and the pattern of Shakespearean sonnet is ABAB, CDCD, EFEF, GG.

The form of sonnet was introduced in Italy and was used by poets like Milton, Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Keats, and many. Modern poets like Charles Causley have interested in writing sonnets. There are many sonnet examples worth reading and enjoying!
