Retail Design – Placing Big Items On The Left Is Crucial
Written by patseah78 on March 13, 2010 – 7:32 pm -Shelving and how products are placed on shelving is an important consideration of retail design. You should place your best selling items and higher cost items at eye level, which is a hot spot.
For some of the products, you will receive special incentives from the product companies when you placed their products in certain shelves. You should also line up your products largest to smallest left to right, when there is more than one size of a product. This is due to the fact that people’s eyes naturally go to the left first since we read left to right.
By putting your larger items on the left you are more likely to have customers take the larger size, which makes you more sales. Empty space should be reduced because it wastes valuable space in your business and does not look good.
The space between shelves should just be a little more than is required for hands to take the product of the shelves. You should also ensure that your shelves are well stocked. If you have plenty of stock on hand you create confidence in the product and create more of a visual impact.
