A set of red and black chess pieces with the solid feel
Written by hallandnash on November 13, 2008 – 2:56 am -An old, make that vintage, chess set on the lower ledge of the laundry room in my friends’ home in a broken red box is nothing value searchers would present to Antiques Roadshow for an appraisal. Notwithstanding, this set of red and black chess pieces with the solid feel of even the pawns, is invaluable.
Additionally, you can discover chess pieces that are fashioned after a variety of themes, from civil war chess sets symbolizing the North and South to those based on books and motion pictures, such as Lord of the Rings.

The land that Loves Chess
Written by hallandnash on September 20, 2008 – 6:36 pm -We’ve been impressed today by the explosion of chess in Chile amongst grade school-aged children. Well, I should say, in Santiago.
I used to consider chess a more well known game amongst those of another generation, but not so in Santiago. If one was to go see the many institutes across the city one would find many kids carrying their chess set around waiting for break time to pull out the board and pieces and battle against their friends.
This is amongst those who could be puttering their hand held video games, or the latest card battling game, or soccer! But no, these are of a new kind of breed; one that chooses the chess set rather than the ball. This could be a incline.
